A Code of Conduct Is Imperative for Ocean Carbon Dioxide Removal Research

چکیده
As the impacts of rising temperatures mount and global transition to clean energy advances only gradually, scientists policymakers are looking towards carbon dioxide removal (CDR) methods prevent worst climate change. Attention has increasingly focused on ocean CDR techniques, which enhance or restore marine systems sequester carbon. Ocean research presents risk uncertain human environmental welfare, yet there no domestic regulations aimed at ensuring safety efficacy this research. A code conduct that establishes principles responsible research, fairness, equity is needed in field. This article fifteen key components an conduct.

Carbon dioxide hydrate particles for ocean carbon sequestration
This paper presents strategies for producing negatively buoyant CO2 hydrate composite particles for ocean carbon sequestration. Our study is based on recent field observations showing that a continuous-jet hydrate reactor located at an ocean depth of ~1500 m produced curved negatively buoyant cylindrical particles with diameters ~ 2.5 cm and lengths up to ~ 1 m. Accordingly we performed new lab...

In 1969 Kolobow and coworkers [2] described use of VVCO2R in healthy sheep for 1 week, and they later demonstrated improved survival in injured sheep [3]. Clinical trials, however, failed to show improved outcomes [4]. Arteriovenous carbon dioxide removal (AVCO2R), as a simple arteriovenous shunt, eliminates several circuit components. AVCO2R removes near total carbon dioxide production with on...
متن کاملIs atmospheric carbon dioxide removal a game changer for climate change mitigation?
The ability to directly remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere allows the decoupling of emissions and emissions control in space and time. We ask the question whether this unique feature of carbon dioxide removal technologies fundamentally alters the dynamics of climate mitigation pathways. The analysis is performed in the coupled energyeconomy-climate model ReMIND using the bioenergy with C...

متن کاملRemoval of Water for Carbon Dioxide-based Egs Operation
CO2-based Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS) have been explored from the perspectives of thermodynamic performance, in-reservoir chemical reactivity, and economic viability. Previous works have correctly noted the important role that initial water content in the geothermal reservoir will play in determining the viability of the concept, but have not examined reservoir water content from a quan...
